CNN —Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will appear on Hawaii’s presidential ballot following a Friday ruling that blocked an effort by Hawaii Democrats to disqualify his campaign’s ballot access petition. Hawaii marks the third state where Kennedy has officially qualified for ballot access. He gained ballot access in Michigan, a key battleground state, earlier this week after qualifying for Utah’s ballot earlier this year. A spokesperson for the Hawaii Office of Elections confirmed to CNN that Friday’s ruling means Kennedy will appear on the state’s ballot. The Kennedy campaign and the Democratic Party of Hawaii did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I finally got my chance during the 2017 Great American Eclipse, but capturing that perfect shot from my dreams was not easy. As I looked at flight paths, I realized that a Southwest flight from Portland, Oregon to St. Louis, Missouri would travel basically along the eclipse path. But then the flight crew clarified that they were deliberately delaying the flight so it would be inside the moon's shadow. Lucky for me, the flight crew and pilot took my mission to heart. (AP) — The U.S., Canada and several indigenous groups announced a proposal on Monday to address the pollution from coal mining in British Columbia that's been contaminating waterways and harming fisheries on both sides of the border for years. The proposal would be executed through a century-old U.S.-Canada boundary waters treaty, establishing independent boards to study the pollution’s extent and make cleanup recommendations. It comes after indigenous groups in British Columbia, Montana and Idaho lobbied for more than a decade for the federal governments in the U.S. and Canada to intervene and stop the flow of pollution. The proposal calls for no more than two years of study to gauge the extent of pollution. Investigators in Canada found Teck Resources Limited discharged hazardous amounts of selenium and calcite from two coal mines north of Eureka, Montana.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A man who stormed the U.S. Capitol with fellow Proud Boys extremist group members was sentenced on Wednesday to six years in prison after he berated and insulted the judge who punished him. The judge warned Bru that he could be kicked out of the courtroom if he continued to disrupt the proceedings. Prosecutors described Bru as one of the least remorseful rioters who assaulted the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. He later joined other rioters inside the Capitol and entered the Senate gallery, where he flashed a hand gesture associated with the Proud Boys as he posed for selfie photos. He has “continued to spew disinformation” from jail since his re-arrest and trial, prosecutors said.

An advanced geothermal project has begun pumping carbon-free electricity onto the Nevada grid to power Google data centers there, Google announced Tuesday. (AP) — A ransomware attack has prompted a health care chain that operates 30 hospitals in six states to divert patients from at least some of its emergency rooms to other hospitals, while putting certain elective procedures on pause, the company announced. All of its hospitals are continuing to provide medical screenings and stabilizing care to patients arriving at emergency rooms, the company said. Ransomware criminals do not usually admit to an attack unless the victim refuses to pay. Education was the sector most likely to be hit, with attack saturation at 80%. While industries across the spectrum have been hit by ransomware, a recent attack on China’s biggest bank that affected U.S. Treasury trading represented a rare attack on a financial institution.
